TRUSTS

Trusts are flexible legal tools that can be tailored to meet your specific needs and goals. They can accomplish important functions both during your life and after you pass away. Through a trust, you can protect your assets, provide for your loved ones and establish a legacy.

Trusts serve a number of important estate planning purposes. For example, a trust can help you:
  • Avoid the delay and expense of probate
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Make distributions in accordance with your wishes
  • Plan for incapacity
  • Protect your assets
  • Provide for a child with special needs without jeopardizing public benefits for that child

The law provides for many different types of trusts. Many of those trusts fall into one of two categories: revocable or irrevocable. Revocable trusts can be changed or eliminated while the trust maker is alive. Irrevocable trusts, on the other hand, generally cannot be terminated or modified.

Let Hempel & Mudd Law help you decide which type of trust would be best for you.
